The throaty roar of an inline-four, the swish of a chequered flag, the camaraderie of riding together, and the legends and their greatest hits.

You can spot a journalist a mile away, especially a former journalist. They are almost junky-esque, with an antsy look and restless, tapping feet. They look around and eavesdrop, even at coffee shops. Curiosity is their bane and news is their true calling. It’s true what they say. You can take a journalist out of news, but you can’t take the news out of a journalist.

I have always loved the long-form narrative and Riding Fast and Flying Low is a perfect platform to combine two passions. It is a challenge (as I have said in my previous posts) to write about races in a manner that is ‘different’. But I love that challenge. However, News is in my blood. So, I do get excited when I read that Red Bull now has to remove the hole in its floor; that Jorge Lorenzo’s contract’s been renewed; that Bruno Senna’s won an award, or even that Tom Sykes has clocked in an amazing set of points in the SBK championship. There are times when I face an incessant urge to write about a particular piece of news on Formula 1, MotoGP, or even SBK.

So I figured, it is time to take this blog to a different level. Once a week, I will write about news I find interesting or relevant. I promise it will be written in a way that isn’t actually newsy! But that’s the whole point isn’t it; to have fun, while satiating this constant, eternal, and irresistible desire to be a newshound.

What do you think?

  1. Think a weekly post on a topic sounds like an interesting idea! Looking forward to see what you come up with for the opener.
